Introducing the Blue Ridge Respite: A Social Model of Respite & Enrichment

Our mission at Blue Ridge Respite, formerly known as Nelson Enrichment Club, is to provide a caring and safe environment for individuals experiencing memory loss. Through engaging and enriching activities, we empower members to achieve their fullest potential, while providing a restorative break for their dedicated caregivers.

Get To Know Blue Ridge Respite

Our Program meets every week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10AM to 2PM, at the Rockfish Presbyterian Church (5016 Rockfish Valley Hwy, in Nellysford, VA).

Coming soon: We’re excited to announce that in March 2026 our second location will meet at the Nelson Heritage Center on Thursdays from 10–2, expanding our ability to support more families and caregivers in our community.

BRR offers social and self-enrichment activities for individuals with memory loss and Parkinson’s, while also giving caregivers a restorative break. Activities include:

  • Music & the arts

  • Brain games

  • Physical fitness

  • Pet therapy

  • Socialization activities

The Blue Ridge Respite is a program of Here to Stay in Wintergreen, in partnership with Blue Ridge Medical Center, and Rockfish Presbyterian Church

We’re excited to share that Blue Ridge Respite will be part of the 2026 Tom Tom Festival in Charlottesville!

The Tom Tom Festival is Charlottesville’s annual celebration of music, art, and big ideas — transforming the city into a creative playground filled with performances, community events, and conversations that inspire connection and change.

Join us on April 23 for Courage in Community, a conversation about how communities can come together to support caregivers and families. This event is free to attend!
